St Barnabas is the founder of the Cypriot Church; near the Monastery with his tomb, on the east coast of Cyprus lies the prehistoric site of Engomi; the vaste excavations of historical Salamis are lying beside the beach, not far from mediaval Ammochostos/Famagusta.
